Signed in pencil Emil Nolde lower right, titled by Ada Nolde "Prophet" in the middle of the lower margin. With several stamps from Stadtmuseum Dresden on the verso. On handmade greenish laid paper, watermarked tulip in circle.
Superb, rich, hand-printed impression with a strong relief on the verso. Especially in the corners, the black parts are effectively lightened and allow the pattern of the wood grain to show through. In the light areas on the cheeks and forehead, the surface of the woodblock is visable in the printing, creating a striking interplay between light and dark and a relief-like structure.
